Karen is a filmmaker and sound artist based in Hamburg. They have written and directed several short films, as well as virtual reality films and a mid-length live cinema fiction film. Moving between collective approaches to filmmaking with the livekino collective and individual work their focus is on the intersection between narrative and technology. Both in stories focusing on Sci-Fi and other speculative genres as well as looking to turn innovative image technology into experimental playgrounds that tell emotional stories about our place in the world – how we are determined by the structures that surround us and how we might hope to resist them. Since 2020 they study at HFBK Hamburg in Film Department.
